I am 30 years and menopausal.  i take hormone replacement therapy, but i am still at a high risk for osteoporosis (my mother broke her hip at age 50 and my maternal grandmother has a hump and compression fractures).  also, i was diagnosed with a mild case of scoliosis in my upper spine when i was a child.  it is enough that my right shoulder is visibly lower than my left. I am 5'5" and cardinallbs.  i was fitted at a specialty store for a 36ff bra.  i am concerned that the weight of my breasts could eventually contribute to spinal issues as i get older - not just back pain (which i already have), but actual deformity or a higher risk of fractures. I've done some research on the net, but haven't found anything specifically addressing this concern.  any input would be appreciated! Thank you! Hollie by joyce rn on 01/12/09 06:56 pm hi hollie & welcome to breasthealthonline. Over the years we've heard from plenty of women here who've had documentation from their drs. , chiropractors & phsyical therapists about the added weight of their breasts possibly causing increased pain/discomfort to their backs. I had documentation from my dr. & chiropractor that i'm sure helped my case for breast reduction surgery. It is the recommendation of breasthealthonline that you consult at least 3 plastic surgeons to find the right plastic surgeon for you. Please keep us posted on your breast reduction quest. --breasthealthonlineregistered nursing support topic breast weight and spinal deformity?
